Kingston Aikido Club is affiliated to the Institute Of Aikido founded and formed by our principle coach Sensei Haydn Foster 7th Dan. Sensei Foster began his Aikido career in the 1950s at The Hut dojo under Abbe Sensei. In 1966 Abbe Sensei returned to Japan and Sensei Ken Williams formed The Renown Society which broke up in 1969. In 1973, at the request of senior ex-Renown society Instructors, Sensei Foster formed the Institute of Aikido based at The Hut dojo, where he has been teaching ever since.
KIngston Aikido club was formed in 2003 by Sue Taylor 3rd Dan who studied under Sensei Foster. Sue grew and developed the club, promoting, teaching and developing many students along the path of Aikido, the club now being run by her her principle student Andy Rogers and 2nd Dan Ali Khan.
Sue Taylor now resides is Ottowa Canada but frequently visits England to both partake in the Institute of Aikido's' summer school and take classes at the Kingston Aikido Club. |
